Those of you who subscribe to N0AX's "Contest Update" saw this photo earlier this week. It's the W2GD/1 Field Day operation, using the services of the K3LR remote. Note the beverage (not the antenna type) to the right of the "rig". Dunkin Donuts coffee, of course!Nick's package containing John's watch finally arrived today! John says he'd probably looked at his wrist 500 times in the past three weeks....felt naked without the cheap Timex there. Also got some nice cards from W1LIB, KA2TOV (Cherryville Repeater Assn friends) W3UM, K3YD, and others.
Bernie K1SA came through with the laundry, delivered, folded etc. this morning. And he returned again at 4 pm for the afternoon coffee hour....DD of course!
W3UR, K1TN/2, and N2GJ called in today. N2GJ shares the same birthday as John (JULY 10 - TOMORROW - HINT, HINT!!!), and he got a little shock when John told him his situation.
They squeezed 3 hours of activity all into the morning today. The the big themes of the day were stretching, climbing stairs with the crutches, and longer distance walks using the crutches. John says he's rock solid doing the stairs between floors in the hospital, and is ready for graduation tomorrow. Had 3 meetings with his case manager, sorting out equip. purchases and the home health care issues over the next few weeks.
Looks like he'll be discharged with a full set of instructions, exercises, etc. tomorrow.
A very nice birthday present, if you ask me.
