John's day started off with a visit from some of the Portland locals - K1SA and Mike/Guido K1EU. They arrived with fresh bagels and coffee.
Later, my XYL and I dropped by, along with "mystery guest" K1GQ. We brought DD coffee.
All of this fueled a grueling but successful day of PT and OT, with a lot of crutches-on-stairs work. We are not sure when the OTs will bring in a couple of tower sections for GD to practice on, but it would not surprise us. I am trying to imagine John climbing a tower with crutches.
John reports that some of his leg muscles are still very cramped up and stiff, but he's working on that too.
Some mail arrived yesterday, including a Dunkin Donuts gift card from John (ex-W1GNC/ now K0IO), and a novel from K4ZA.
K1AR phoned in, and the two Johns argued about baseball for a while. Since the Yankees and Red Sox split their series over the weekend, the discussion was inconclusive.
John also noted that he has a goal of answering all the emails that arrived over the past 3 weeks, especially some of the early birds, once he gets out of the hospital. And after that, all his bureau cards...heh, heh, heh...

p.s. One more thing...if you have not been reading the comments strings for the past few days, you may have missed the fact that Thursday is John's birthday. It might be tough to call him, since that will be moving-out day and pretty busy, but cards to his cousin's address (back a couple of days) should work. And "one-day-late" calls ought to be UFB on Friday.

Thank goodness for cellphone users who don't change their numbers year to year! I had the good fortune to speak with John today (being over on the planet Mars the last couple of months I had missed his "news!") I called a day early to wish him a "happy birthday." All the best for a speedy recovery, Mr. 'GD! You take care of yourself! 73,
